Nuki


Nuki is a smart lock system that allows unlocking using PIN codes and also from the Alfred app. When connecting locks to Previo, the guest accommodation process can be fully or partially automated.

Before starting the connection process, the hotelier must grant the Previo app limited access to their Nuki account. This access is set up via a link that will be sent to the hotelier by our consultant at the start of the process.

When issuing PIN codes from Previo, the guest receives one PIN code with which they can unlock their room, the main entrance, and possibly other shared access points where Nuki is installed (e.g., parking lot entrance, rear entrance, etc.).

The hotelier can choose the following methods of issuing PINs:

  1. Automatic issuance on the day of arrival – in this case, Previo takes care of everything. PIN codes are automatically issued at midnight for all expected arrivals on that day. In the case of last-minute reservations made on the day of arrival, the PIN code will be issued immediately (usually within a few seconds).
  2. Manual issuance in the reservation details – after clicking on the key icon in the reservation details, you can issue a PIN code for that specific reservation.
  3. Guests generate their own PIN in the Alfred app – this option is optional. When using it, guests will have a “get PIN” button in the Alfred app, which they can use to generate their own PIN code if it has not yet been generated for their reservation by the hotelier or Previo.

The validity of the PIN code is always based on the check-in and check-out times. If you need to select a different validity for a specific reservation, simply adjust the start and end dates of the reservation. If you want to allow all guests to unlock the door a certain amount of time before the start or after the end of their reservation, you can set a global extended PIN validity. Guests will not be informed of this extended validity period. However, if they arrive at the accommodation a little earlier and try to enter the PIN, the door will unlock for them. We recommend choosing this option if, for example, your guests regularly arrive half an hour to an hour before check-in time and you have the rooms cleaned and ready in the vast majority of cases.

In any case, guests can only obtain a PIN (in Alfred or via email or SMS) after fulfilling the conditions, i.e., after completing check-in and payment. Details can be found in this section of the manual.

Hourly and other facilities

The handles can also be used for minute-based and other types of operations, such as bicycle storage rooms, saunas, or entrance gates.

If all reservations are to have unrestricted access to such areas, simply inform our consultant when setting up the connection, and they will ensure that locks are automatically assigned to all reservations.

If only guests who pay for the service are to have access to a given space, it is necessary to first ensure that the service is connected to the relevant non-accommodation space in Previo. More information can be found here.

After setting up the minute spaces, all you need to do is inform our consultant, who will ensure that the locks are linked to the relevant spaces. As soon as a guest books a service, such as a sauna, the system will generate an access PIN for the sauna, valid only for the duration of the booked time.

Nuki does not allow two different time periods to be assigned to one PIN, so the PIN for the pay-per-minute space will always differ from the PIN for accommodation. It does not matter whether the PIN is issued automatically, manually from the reservation details, or by the guest from Alfred.

In this illustrative case, we automatically issue PINs to guests for their stay and allow them to enter the hotel one hour before the start of their reservation. However, we have set up the wellness area differently, so that PINs will not be issued automatically, and entry to the area will only be allowed 15 minutes before the start of the reservation.
