Detailed information about transferring Minimum stay restriction

In Previo, we use the minimum length of stay restriction to manage the length of a guest’s stay from the day of arrival.

For example, if you set a minimum stay of 3 nights for the date 20.12.2024, this restriction will apply specifically to reservations with an arrival date of 20.12.2024. However, a guest arriving on the following day would still be able to book a one-night stay.

This restriction is also transferred to portals such as AirBnb, Agoda, Amazing Places, etc. More about data transfer here.

Booking.com and Expedia, however, handle the minimum length of stay restriction differently, distinguishing between two types of minimum stay restriction.

Minimum length of stay at Booking.com

Booking.com distinguishes between two types of minimum length of stay, and only the first type is available when you are actively connected to the channel manager. The way this restriction is applied cannot be modified.

  • Minimum length of stay – the length of the reservation, or: if a day is included in the specified search interval, the length of the reservation must be equal to or longer than the minimum value set for that day. The strictest restriction applies, which means that accommodation for a shorter number of days is not available. For example, if you set a minimum stay of 3 nights starting on 20.12.2024, the accommodation will not be available for a 2-night stay from 19.12.2024 to 21.12.2024.
  • Min. stay from the day of arrival – the behaviour is the same as in Previo, i.e. the set restriction applies only to the day of the guest’s arrival. As mentioned above, the channel manager does not work with this restriction for Booking.com.

Minimum length of stay at Expedia

Expedia offers two types of minimum stay settings, and only one of them can be active at a time.

The default setting applies the restrictions in the same way as in Previo, i.e. on the day of the guest’s arrival, which Expedia calls “Arrival-based restriction”.

However, if necessary, it is possible to change the way the restriction is applied to a “Stay-through based restriction”, where the minimum length of stay determines the total length of the reservation. This setting is identical to Booking.com’s approach.

If you wish to change your restriction settings, please contact Expedia Customer Service directly. Changing the settings will not affect the functionality of transferring restrictions through the channel manager.
